The Garbage Disposal

The garbage disposal is installed under the kitchen sink.  The garbage disposal grinds food waste into pieces small enough to pass through your plumbing system.  Inside the grinding chamber, there is a rotating metal turntable that the food waste drops onto.  There are two metal swiveling impellers that grind the food waste.

When using your garbage disposal, you should always run COLD water in it before and after grinding food waste.  Here is what NOT to put down your garbage disposal:  *Grease, fat or oil  *Fibrous material such as celery, corn husks, vegetable skins  *Expandable food such as rice, coconut and pasta  *Bones and meat skin  *Coffee grounds.  Never put large amounts of food scraps in the disposal all at once.  Feed small amounts in slowly, running cold water before, during and after.  De Hart Plumbing Heating and Cooling serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas, Wamego Kansas and some surrounding areas. The Garbage Disposal
