More Cooling Tips

Here are more cooling tips to help you during the hot summer months.  Keep your house closed tight during the day; shades, drapes,  doors and windows closed. In hot climates, consider planting shade trees around the house. If you have an older central air conditioner, consider replacing the outdoor compressor with a modern high-efficiency unit.  Seal and insulate all air conditioner ducts that run through unheated basements, crawl spaces and attics.  Keep the thermostat set at 78 degrees or higher if using ceiling fans. Ceiling fans don’t necessarily cool rooms, but they do circulate the already cool air around the room.  Don’t air-condition unused rooms.  More cooling tips include, installing window shades or mini blinds.  These can reduce solar heat gain by 40-50 percent.  De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
