A healthy summer lawn starts with good spring lawn care. Winter can alter the soil pH, compact the soil and create conditions that are friendly to weeds and disease. Now is the time to properly clean, fertilize, seed and mow your yard. If you see low spots, get some good soil and fill them in. Once you have cleaned and filled in your lawn with soil, it is time to seed it. Choose a seed that is best for your region of the country. If you are seeding a large area, use a broadcast spreader. If just small areas need seeded, you can do it by hand. Water regularly to maintain soil moisture. Don’t mow new grass until it is 3-4 inches in height.  Do not cut it too short or you will stress the grass plant. Good lawn care makes for a beautiful lawn year round.  De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
