mineral depositLime scale deposits left untreated can destroy your faucets.  Calcium and magnesium in water combine to create lime scale deposits inside and outside plumbing fixtures. Hard water deposits can stick to glass, porcelain, fiber glass, stainless steel, chrome and tile.  You can tie a plastic bag filled with white vinegar over your faucet and leave over night.  Use a toothbrush and white vinegar to remove lime scale from an encrusted faucet base. Rinse well with warm water and buff with a clean dry cloth.  To clean lime scale from your shower head, remove it and place in a plastic bag filled with white vinegar for 30 minutes.  Rinse shower head thoroughly and reinstall.
