Heating and Cooling

Heating and cooling your home uses more energy and costs more money than any other system in your home, typically making up about 54% of your utility bill.  No matter what kind of heating and cooling system you have in your house, you can save money by properly maintaining and upgrading your equipment.  Recommended insulation, air sealing and thermostat settings can cut your energy use.  Make sure your air registers, baseboard heaters and radiators are not blocked by furniture, draperies or carpeting.  Turn off kitchen and bathroom exhaust fans within 20 minutes after you are done using them.  During winter, keep draperies and blinds open on the south-facing windows to allow sunlight to enter and warm your home.  During summer, keep window coverings closed during the day to block out the sun’s heat.  De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
