Furnace Filter

Changing your furnace filter is a very important maintenance task.  Keeping your filter changed will extend furnace life, reduce energy bills and improve air quality, this is important if anyone in your home suffers from asthma or allergies. If you have pets, it is even more important because pet dander can accumulate and spread allergens throughout the household. One of the most common reasons your heating system can malfunction is because of a dirty furnace filter. As dirt accumulates, air can’t pass through the system and the furnace will overheat and shut down. A dirty filter can cause the furnace to work harder causing your furnace to need repairs, if it is an older furnace the damage could be severe enough that the furnace may need replaced. When your furnace filter is dirty or clogged, the system has to work harder and more energy is used. When you consistently keep your filter changed, you can save 5 to 15 percent on utility costs.  In addition to changing your furnace filter every month, it is important to have annual preventive maintenance on your heating system performed at the start of heating season.  De Hart Plumbing Heating and Cooling, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas, Wamego Kansas and some surrounding areas.  De Hart Plumbing and Heating and Cooling - Manhattan, KS 66502
