Healthy Food Tips

Here are some healthy food tips.  Many  people think crackers can be healthy.  Your typical crackers are made with flavoring built around fat, salt and sugar.  Actual whole grain crackers are rare.  Ninety-nine percent of crackers out there are a treat-not healthy.  We all know about the health benefits of tea, but bottled tea can have very few of those benefits, fresh brewed is best.  Extra-virgin olive oil may actually be a lower grade oil.  In a research study 70% of bottles pulled off supermarket shelves did not meet the criteria for the extra-virgin grade.  To find good oil, look for dark glass or tin containers which protect the oil from light and a harvest date on the container.  Greek yogurt should be authentically strained.  Some manufacturers take a shortcut by adding whey protein or milk protein concentrate which does not make it authentic Greek yogurt.  Read the label.  In order for ice cream to be considered “ice cream” in the US, it must contain at least 10% milk fat.  If you look closely at the ice cream labels in the frozen food section, chances are you will find some labeled “frozen dairy dessert.”  If you are trying to eat a healthier diet, the best thing you can do is read all food labels and consider preparing/baking fresh home made foods.  De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.dehart-slide
