Winter Pet Safety

Winter Pet Safety is important folks.  If you are hating the cold weather, think about what pets living outdoors or indoors are feeling.  *If the temperature gets below 30 degrees, bring your outside pet inside during the cold spell  *Never let your dog off the leash in a snow storm as they can become lost  *Don’t have your dog shaved during winter months – their coat helps protect them in cold weather  *If you have a pet with short hair get them a pet coat or sweater  *Don’t leave your pets in a car during winter, a car can be like a  refrigerator and your pet can freeze to death  *Make sure your pet has a warm place to sleep off the floor with a pet bed or blankets  *When your pet has been outside, wipe their paws and stomach when they come back in as they may have walked through salt or anti freeze  *Baby animals can’t tolerate the cold as well as adult animals *If you pet spends time playing and is engaged in cold weather activities, make sure to increase their daily food ration.  Our pets are family too!  De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
