Sunscreen is a lotion, cream, spray, gel or other topical product that absorbs or reflects some of the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays on skin exposed to sunlight.  It helps to protect against sunburn.  The American Cancer Society recommends the use of sunscreen because it aids in the prevention of developing squamous cell carcinomas and basil-cell carcinomas (cancers) .  Many sunscreens do not block UVA radiation.  The use of broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreens can address this concern.  Diligent use of sunscreen can slow or temporarily help to prevent the development of wrinkles or saggy skin. Sunscreens need to be applied thick enough to get the full protection.  It should be applied 15-30 minutes before exposure, followed by reapplication 20-30 minutes after sun exposure begins.  Further application is required after swimming, sweating or rubbing, such as drying off after swimming.  Sun rays are strongest between 10am and 4pm.  Wearing a hat or anti-UV sunglasses provides good protection against ultraviolet rays entering the eyes.  Take good care of your skin and eyes people.  De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.sunscreen
