germsGerms live everywhere.  You can find germs in the air, on food, plants and animals; in soil and water – just about every surface including your body.  Most germs wont harm you.  Your immune system protects you against infectious agents.  However, some germs are formidable adversaries because they are constantly mutating to breach your immune system.  What are some ways to stay disease/germ free?  You can prevent many infections through simple tactics such as washing your hands regularly, being careful with food and water and getting vaccinations. It is best to wash all fresh fruits and vegetables before cooking or eating.  Hand washing is often overlooked but one of the easiest ways to protect yourself from germs and most infections.  Wash your hands before preparing or eating food, after toileting or changing a diaper, after coughing or sneezing (never cough or sneeze into your hands), you should cough or sneeze into your inner elbow or a tissue.  If soap and water is not available, use hand sanitizer – it is better than no hand washing at all. Vaccinations prevent many diseases.  The list of vaccine-preventable diseases continues to grow.  Many vaccines are given in childhood but adults still need to be routinely vaccinated to prevent some illnesses.   De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
