Your Heart

Take care of your heart.  Heart disease kills more Americans than all cancers combined.  *Not enough sleep is linked to higher blood pressure, which is a leading risk factor for heart disease. You should never drink caffeine or alcohol before bed and it is recommended that you go to bed at the same time every night and get eight hours of sleep.  *Exercise is important for heart health, some things you can do are to take the stairs versus the elevator, walk where ever you can, join a gym or find a local hotel that allows you to use their indoor pool at a minimal fee.  * Meditate for 20 minutes daily, it can give you a great sense of comfort and relieve stress.  *Laugh-always find something to laugh about, humor and laughing in everyday life dilates the arteries and keeps blood pressure down.  *Make good choices about what you eat. Since the heart is a muscle, it needs lots of protein like grass fed beef, wild caught fish, nuts, and vegetables.  Choose good cooking oils such as canola, coconut, avocado and almond oil. Skip processed red meats such as sausage, hot dogs, and lunch meats as studies have shown an increased risk of cardiovascular disease associated with eating these meats.  *Take good care of your teeth. More research is needed to determine if it affects heart health but having a healthy mouth is important to overall health.  *Eat dairy products versus taking a calcium supplement.  A diet high in calcium-rich foods may be protective of your heart.  *Drink a lot of water, drinking five or more glasses of water a day can lower the risk of heart disease.  De Hart Plumbing HYour Hearteating and Cooling, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas, Topeka  Kansas and some surrounding areas.
