Is Your Ceiling Fan Rotating Counter-Clockwise?

Now’s the time to check if your ceiling fan is rotating counter-clockwise to push air down for the warmer weather we’re coming upon. With having constant air flow on your skin, you can turn your thermostat up a few degrees and still feel just as cool, all while saving on cooling costs by not having your air conditioning system running as often.

Most fans have a switch on the motor housing that will allow you to change the rotation of the blades. As you’re looking up at your fan, if the blades are rotating clockwise, air is being pulled up which is beneficial in winter to distribute warmer air to cooler parts of the room. Counter-clockwise rotation will push air downwards which is better during warmer weather for cooling. Always wait until the fan blades are completely stopped before you flip the switch on your fan to change direction for the seasons.
