Who has never wore a pair of blue jeans?  Jeans are trousers or pants made from denim cloth.  Pants called “blue jeans” were invented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss in 1873.  Starting in the 1950’s, blue jeans originally designed for cowboys and miners became popular among teenagers, especially members of the “greaser” subculture.  Historic brands include Levi’s, Wrangler and Lee.  Initially jeans were intended for “workers” only.  After James Dean popularized them in the movie Rebel Without a Cause, wearing blue blue jeansjeans became a symbol of youth rebellion during the 1950’s.  Because of this they were sometimes banned in theatres, schools and restaurants.  During the 1960’s the wearing of jeans became more acceptable.  By the 1970’s, jeans had become general fashion in the United States as casual wear.  Traditionally, jeans were dyed blue using natural indigo dye.  Today most denim is dyed using synthetic indigo.  In 2014, jeans are now produced in any color that can be achieved with cotton. Ever notice you can pair just about anything with a pair of jeans?  You can go casual or dress them up for a great appearance.  De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
