Know the plumbing codes if you plan on doing the work yourself. Plumbing is a tricky business with rules that dictate how far you can place a fixture from the home’s drain- waste- vent line based on the pipe diameter etc. You can handle the job yourself if you know the plumbing codes and what it calls for in pipe sizing, fixture spacing and related matters. The best thing you can do before you start that remodel is purchase a copy of the International Plumbing Code or the Uniform Plumbing Code. Code Check is a handbook that is updated as building codes are updated.
