Here are some Winter Energy Tips –
BE SAFE *Have a professional inspect your heating system before cold weather arrives to ensure it will run at peak efficiency *Clean or replace air filters regularly to assure your system is running to it’s utmost potential *Daylight Saving Time ends November 4, so this is a good time to replace batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
BE WARM * Apply caulking and weather stripping around doors and windows to stop warm air from escaping and cold air from getting in *Seal and insulate ductwork to stop air from escaping *Close blinds or curtains at night to keep cold out, but open them on sunny days to let the sun in *Close your fireplace damper when not in use.
SAVE ENERGY *Use a programmable thermostat to adjust the temperature when you are not home to reduce energy use *If your home has a humidifier, adjust it to 68 degrees. A humidified home can feel as comfortable as a dry home at 72 degrees.
