How to prepare your home for winter

FiltersCheck your Home’s Heating and Air Conditioning System
At the very least, change your filters before it gets cold. Changing your filters will help the air flow and air quality. Even a filter looking like the one pictured is enough to stop your unit from working. Even better, sign up for our VIP membership, and get two HVAC maintenance services a year!Check your Heat Tape
In mobile homes, if you have exposed pipes, make sure your heat tape is in place! This will prevent your pipes from freezing and possibly bursting.Outside Drain Faucets
Your outside water faucet is unprotected in winter months and will freeze. Outside faucets develop nasty leaks, water line splits, and can cause flooding. All you need to do is shut off the water valve to your outside spigot, then go outside and open the exterior spigot valve and let the majority of the water drain out of the line. This way if the water in the line freezes  it has room to expand without damaging the pipes or seals. Keep the water shut off until Winter is over.
