How to Safely Warm Your Home During Electric Outages

Warm Your HomeWinter is coming, so it’s critical to understand how to securely warm your home during power outages. The ideal situation would be to install a whole-house generator. While we do not currently install whole-house generators, De Hart Plumbing Heating & Cooling does install the gas lines required for them. The heating/cooling system, refrigerator/freezer, alarm system, sump pump, water heater, and other important equipment in your home can all be powered by a whole-house standby generator, as opposed to a portable generator.

Other options to keep warm in your home safely include running your fireplace, baking on your gas range stove, heating bricks on an outdoor fireplace and bringing them inside, keeping your blinds open during the day, taking warm or hot baths/showers, or warming water bottles on your outdoor gas grille or fireplace to wrap up in your blankets with.
