Garbage Disposal Do’s

Here are some garbage disposal do’s.  Do keep your garbage disposal clean by pouring a little dish soap inside and letting it run for a minute using cold water.  Do run your disposal regularly, frequent use prevents rust and corrosion and assures that parts stay moving.  Do grind food waste with a strong flow of cold water.  Why cold water?  It will cause grease and oil residue to solidify so they can be chopped up before reaching the trap.  Remember you should never knowingly put grease or oil into your garbage disposal. Do grind citrus peelings (lemon& orange) to freshen up drain smells.  Do cut large scraps into smaller pieces and put into your garbage disposal one at a time instead of trying to shove a large amount in at once as it can cause a stoppage.
