You would be surprised by what some folks put into a garbage disposal, so here are some garbage disposal DON’TS. Don’t grind glass, metal, paper, cigarette butts or any animal bones. Don’t grind fibrous materials like corn husks, celery skins, onion peels, artichokes and banana peels.  Don’t pour grease or fat into your drains as it will slowly accumulate and cause a clog.  Don’t pour bleach or harsh chemicals into your drains as they can damage garbage disposal blades and water pipes. Don’t use hot water when grinding food waste, hot water will cause grease to liquefy and accumulate and impede the disposal’s ability as well as clog your drain line. Most garbage disposal problems are completely unnecessary. Garbage disposal care and maintenance is extremely easy. Tomorrow we will go over some garbage disposal DO’S. De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
