Since prehistoric times, snow and ice were used for cooling and “air conditioning”. In 1902, the first modern electrical air conditioning unit was invented by Willis Carrier in Buffalo, New York. While working at Buffalo Forge Company, Carrier began experimenting with air conditioning as a way to solve an application problem for a Lithographing and Publishing company. Carrier designed the first air conditioner to control temperature and humidity in the printing plant. The low heat and humidity helped maintain paper dimensions and ink alignment. The Carrier Air Conditioning Company of America was eventually formed and came to be used to improve comfort in homes and automobiles by the 1950’s. In common use, an air conditioner is a device (home appliance or automobile system) that lowers the air temperature and controls humidity. The cooling is done using a simple refrigeration cycle. Is your air conditioning unit working efficiently? The time is now to get it serviced by De Hart Plumbing. De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
