The Purple Heart is the military’s oldest medal. The Purple Heart was originally called The Badge of Military Merit. George Washington created it in 1782. Only three documented awards were given before it fell into disuse. Army Chief of Staff General Douglas MacArthur revived it in 1932. The medal was redesigned as it looks today. MacArthur awarded it to soldiers who were wounded in action and to the families of those who died in combat. To date, nearly two million members of the U.S. armed forces have received the Purple Heart. Today there is an organization called Purple Hearts Reunited, that reunites military veterans and their families back together with their missing medals. Founder and director of Purple Hearts Reunited, Zachariah Fike will go to great lengths to get these precious lost medals returned to soldiers and their loved ones. De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
