Water Heaters

Conventional water heaters are in every home in America these days. Water heaters store water in a tank and are available in a variety of gallon capacities.  Electric or gas energy is required to maintain the water at a set temperature until a faucet is turned on and water is pulled through the pipe.  A water heater should last about 11 years before needing replaced.

Most water heaters are relatively easy and inexpensive to repair when they have issues.  Most times it is a burned out heating element, leaky drain or pressure  relief valve. These repairs are simple and save you from having to replace the water heater. Water heaters are the most neglected appliance in your home-until it stops working.  You will know when it is time to replace your water heater usually when it starts leaking.  Over time, water minerals react with steel, corroding water heater tanks.  On the bright side, water heaters these days are more energy efficient than older models.

Manufacturers now inject foam insulation between the tank and it’s outer shell, resulting in higher heat retention and new glass liners make tanks less prone to corrosion. Newer water heaters offer high-efficiency models that meet Energy Star standards and save up to 20% in energy costs. De Hart Plumbing Heating and Cooling, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas, Wamego Kansas and some surrounding areas.
