What is a Mini-Split System, you ask? A mini-split system is a cooling and heating system for smaller spaces like certain rooms, garages and enclosed porches where running duct work is not an option. They are also great for rooms such as, kitchens and entertainment rooms where sound systems, TV’s and electrical devices heat things up. Mini-splits have two main components, an outdoor compressor/condenser and an indoor air-handling unit. A conduit which houses the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction tubing, and a condensate drain, links the outdoor and indoor units. There are many newer energy efficient homes being built today that may only require a small space conditioning system such as a mini-split. Mini-splits have no duct work so you avoid the 30% energy loss associated with duct work. Some people may not like the appearance of the system, but it is less obtrusive than a window room air conditioner unit. To each his own. De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
