Frozen Pipes

Frozen pipes might be here again.  Temperatures will dip to a dangerous low tonight in the Midwest, causing frozen pipes if you don’t take some precautions.  That being said I  have some tips for you to help prevent frozen pipes.  Keep cabinet doors open under all sinks, that allows warmer air to circulate.  Let the faucet drip at night, water moving through the pipes will help prevent frozen pipes.  Keep your thermostat set at the same temperature day and night. Search around your garage, basement and crawl space to see if you need to get any pipes insulated. If you have a garden hose currently attached to the outside spigot, disconnect it now and cover that spigot up.  A higher utility bill will be cheaper than calling the plumber.
