The Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty weighs 225 tons * On October 28,1886, a million people flocked to Lower Manhattan to witness the unveiling of Liberty Enlightening the World (aka the Statue of Liberty)  * The cost of building Lady liberty and her platform was $500,000 at the time, today it would cost twelve million dollars *In winds of 50 mph or more, her body can sway up to three inches and her torch arm up to six  *Green is not her natural color as her natural color was a dull copper brown -as copper oxidizes, it develops a green patina to protect from further deterioration  *There are seven rays on her crown, one for each of the world’s continents * On October 28,2016, Lady Liberty will be 130 years old.  De Hart Plumbing, Heating and Cooling, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas, Wamego Kansas and some surrounding areas.
