Here are two local “Weekend Buzz” happenings. The weekend of March 11, 2017.
Chapman Kansas: Saturday, March 11, 2017. Wild Game Feed at American Legion Post 240. This event dates back to the 1970’S and takes months of planning. Up to twenty different kinds of wild game can be featured, ranging from beaver, wild turkey, bison and fish to name a few. Every year a “mystery meat” is served and there will be a door prize for whoever guesses it correctly. The Game Feed time is from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. You must have a ticket to eat and tickets will be available starting at 5:00 PM. There will be raffles and door prizes. There is no cost to attend, but donations are suggested. Any funds collected will go toward youth programs in Chapman.
Manhattan Kansas: Saturday, March 11, 2017. Fake Patty’s Day. All day. The streets of Aggieville will be dressed in green as well as the happy revelers. Every year this event takes place on March 17th-hence the name “fake”. It is one of the Midwest/Great Plains celebrations where partygoers hit the streets for unlimited drinking opportunities. This is one of the few days where public intoxication is tolerated. Thousands come to Manhattan Kansas to celebrate the fakest of all holidays. Some local bars will be open as early as 8:ooAM as local and out of state travelers come to join in the fun. This will be the tenth year for the Fake Patty’s Day celebration. While all is fun and games, Riley County Police Department wants to remind everyone that the local laws are the same on Fake Patty’s Day as they are every other day of the year.
