Today is the first day of Spring 2015. Weather scientists divide the year into quarters to make it easier to compare seasonal and monthly statistics from one year to the next. The March equinox is known as the Vernal Equinox, it marks the beginning of the spring season. The March equinox happens at the same moment across the world and is converted into local time zones. Today, March 20th it will occur at 6:45 PM-EDT, 5:45 PM- CDT, 4:45 PM-MDT, and 3:45 PM-PDT. On this day (today) March 20th, there will be a total eclipse of the sun, this is quite rare and will not happen again until the Vernal Equinox in 2034. The experts say the eclipse will not be visible from North America but will be visible from Greenland, Iceland, Europe, North Africa and northwestern Asia. In addition to today’s eclipse, there will be a second celestial event: a Supermoon (new moon). Spring time is a time of fresh new growth, blue skies, birds singing and more outdoor time. Enjoy! De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
