National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week is celebrated during the first full week of November to honor the numerous shelters that care for millions of displaced animals in the United States. The commemoration also helps to recognize the hardworking people who help with the operations at the shelters. Local shelters do an excellent job of finding new homes for homeless pets, but it isn’t the only thing they do. They also rescue and care for wounded or abused animals, as well as reuniting lost pets with their original owners. Every day, they’re assisting communities by rescuing animals.
