Its getting hot outside, remember to drink water, lots of water. Water is essential to good health. Studies have varied over the years, your body’s water needs depend on your health, how active you are and where you live. No single formula fits everyone. Water makes up about 60% of your body weight. Every system in your body depends on water. Water flushes out toxins in vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues. Lack of water can lead to dehydration which can drain your energy and cause your body to not be able to perform normal functions. Every day you lose water through your breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements. The old 8-8ounces of water a day is an old standard. It is easy to remember, but many times you will need more water than that. You need to modify your total daily water intake depending on how active you are, the climate you live in, your health status, and if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Generally, if you drink enough water so that you rarely feel thirsty and produce urine that is light yellow or colorless, your water intake is most likely adequate.
