Post-it Notes

post it note2Post-it notes are  small pieces of paper with a re-adherable strip of glue on its back.  It was created for temporarily attaching notes to documents and other surfaces. The unique low-tack adhesive allows the note to be easily attached, removed and re-posted elsewhere without leaving residue.  Originally small yellow squares, Post-it Notes and related products are now available in a wide range of colors, shapes and sizes. The original yellow color was chosen by accident, as the Post-it team only had yellow paper to borrow from a lab next door to use.  In 1968, scientist Dr. Spencer Silver was attempting to develop a strong adhesive, instead he accidentally created a “low-tack”, pressure- sensitive adhesive.  It took years before the Post-it Note was launched in 1977.  3M launched the product as “Press ‘n Peel” in stores in four cities but results were disappointing.  A year later 3M issued free samples to consumers in Boise, Idaho, with 94% of those who tried them indicating they would buy the product.  On April 6, 1980, “Press ‘n Peel” was re-introduced in US stores as Post-it Notes.  The following year they were launched in Canada and Europe.  De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
