Frozen Plumbing Pipes

frozen plumbing pipesFrozen pipes are here!   Check around your home for areas where water supply lines may be in unheated areas such as the basement, crawl space, attic and garage.  Then get these areas insulated using pipe sleeves or heat tape or a similar type of insulation.  Open cabinet doors under kitchen and bathroom sinks to allow warmer air to circulate.  Let your faucets drip to keep water moving, your pipes are less likely to freeze.  Keep your thermostat set at the same temperature day and night, you may have a higher heating bill but the cost to call a plumber will be much higher if your pipes freeze and burst.
