If you have a humidifier installed onto your furnace, there is some maintenance that needs to be done on it annually. One item you should address every year is your humidifier water panel. It can also be called an evaporator pad or a humidifier filter. The water panel is what water flows onto and then as your system blows air over the panel, the air picks up the moisture and distributes it throughout the home.
Your humidifier’s water panel is susceptible to mineral buildup just like all plumbing fixtures in your home. Also, anything that passes through your furnace air filter can get caught in the humidifier water panel and cause clogs including pet dander, dust, and hair to name a few. Buildup of minerals and debris can clog the humidifier drain lines, foster mold and bacteria growth, and make your system run less efficient.
If you have a humidifier installed onto your furnace and it’s been a while since it’s been serviced or aren’t even sure if it’s working, call our office at 785-341-4193 and let us take care of your home humidifier needs!
