Your Pets VS Your Home HVAC

Home HVACPets make our lives so much better in so many ways! They give us unconditional love and affection and they’re always happy to see us! The downside of indoor pets is how they can negatively affect the plumbing and home HVAC.
If you’re giving your pets regular baths in the tub or sinks, their hair can easily cause blockages in your drain lines. Just like human hair can cause blockages and slow drains, pet hair can cause the same issues. Drain strainers or covers should be utilized when it’s bath time for your furry family.
Pet hair really does get everywhere and if you’re like me and you keep a lint roller around to clean up unwanted pet hair off of your clothes, you can be sure that your pet’s hair is going through the washer and dryer too. That hair can clog up the drainage system on your washer and cause lint and debris to build up in your internal dryer lint trap and dryer vent.
Cat litter is not safe to flush! Some kitty litters will say that it’s flushable but if your drain lines are already compromised, kitty litter can cause slow drains and blockages easily. Do not flush cat litter!
All those extra pets really get the pet hair and dander flying through the air! Then that pet hair gets sucked into your HVAC system. If you’re not staying on top of replacing your HVAC filter regularly, you’re probably causing air flow issues on your HVAC system which can lead to costly repairs.
Our pets are gifts that keep on giving! Unfortunately, sometimes they can give us problems within our home that can cost us a pretty penny. For all of your plumbing or HVAC needs, whether it’s from your furry friend or a 2-legged member of your household, call us at 785-341-4193 and let us keep your home in proper working order.
