Furnace Preventative Maintenance
As summer’s end draws near, furnace season will be here in no time! Now’s the perfect time to have your annual preventative maintenance performed on your furnace for the coming season so when it’s time to switch from ‘Cool’ to ‘Heat’ on your thermostat, you’re confident that your system will run as efficiently and as safely as possible. Having your furnace serviced before you’re running it regularly will also allow time for repairs and replacements to be made if your HVAC technician has any recommendations that would allow your system to run more efficiently.
Preventative maintenance on your furnace should include checking and cleaning burner assemblies, cleaning the flame sensor, cleaning and checking all major components, making sure the equipment is testing within manufacturer specifications, inspecting for proper venting and air flow, and cleaning and testing all electrical components.
You may be thinking that yearly service on your furnace isn’t necessary. Maybe you just had it done last year and only ran the furnace for a few months and it worked just fine. Or maybe you just had your system replaced within the last few years and everything should be working properly. If your system is new, now is the most important time to start annual maintenance. Sometimes, warranties can be voided on new equipment if it’s damaged or malfunctioning due to lack of maintenance.
Keep in mind, servicing your furnace yearly isn’t just about keeping your unit clean; it’s also about preventive maintenance. It’s about sometimes catching a problem before your furnace quits working in the middle of the night. And if you do have to call in the middle of the night, the emergency service charge generally around what the cost of a regular furnace service would be.
