Summer Vacation

Going on summer vacation?  Before you leave town, there are some safety tips to follow before leaving your home unattended.  Leave a key with someone you trust to check on your home, make sure they have multiple ways to contact you, cell phone, email, Facebook etc.  Let your neighbors know you will be gone so they can keep an eye on your place. Make your house looks like someone is there by leaving lights and radio on, set to a timer to come on in the evening and go off in the morning.  Have your newspaper and mail withheld so it doesn’t pile up which is a sure giveaway to a thief.  Have your lawn mowed and groomed weeklysummer.  Ask a neighbor to park their car in your driveway.  Now for some plumbing/HVAC tips:  Do a walk through and check your faucets and toilets for drips and leaks. Shut off the water supply to your wash machine, toilets and sinks if you have any leaks that can be repaired when you get home. Set your water heater to vacation mode.  Set your thermostat in your home to maintain the AC temperature at 85 degrees. Enjoy your summer vacation.  De Hart Plumbing, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas and Wamego Kansas.
