You should perform an Air Conditioner Service more than once a year. The filters, coils, and fins require regular maintenance during high peak usage. Keeping the unit clean and serviced allow for the system to function efficiently during its many years of service. Neglecting your air conditioner allows for a steady decline in performance and higher energy usage and cost. Clogged, dirty filters block normal air flow and reduce the systems’ efficiency. If the airflow is obstructed due to a dirty filter, it can send dirt directly into the evaporator coil and impair its proper functioning ability. You should replace or clean the air filter monthly during high use season.
You should minimize dirt and debris around and near your outside condenser. Cleaning the area around the unit, removing debris and trimming foliage back at least 2 feet, will allow for adequate air flow around the condenser. Another problem is your dog. Many times we have to replace wires on the outside unit because the dog has chewed them.
