We’ve made it to the unofficial end of Summer coming into this Labor Day weekend. If you’re lucky enough to get the day off on Monday, make sure you celebrate, but remember why Labor Day became a national holiday.
Labor Day started during the industrial revolutions when factory workers were working 10-12 hour shifts 7 days a week. They were overworked, underpaid, and worked in very unsafe conditions. There were several riots and strikes due to the working conditions, but eventually, unions were able to shorten workers daily work hours and only work 6 days a week. Fast forward to the 21st century and most factory workers work an average of 40 hours per week and have a livable wage.
Now, even though Labor Day is a national holiday, that doesn’t mean everyone gets the day off! This includes our on-call technicians! So, if you find yourself in a plumbing or HVAC emergency, call us at 785-341-4193! Have a wonderful Labor Day from all of us at De Hart Plumbing Heating & Cooling!
