FOG = fats, oil and grease.  FOG comes from meats, butter, lard, food scraps, sauces, cooking oil and salad dressings to name a few.   When FOG goes down a drain it hardens or creates a sludge that causes sewer pipes to clog.  Fog is one of the leading causes of sewer backups and overflows that can back up in your home, on your lawn and into neighborhood streets.  To avoid costly  home and environmental damage, NEVER put FOG down the drain.  When you finish cooking, collect cooled liquid grease or oil into a seal able container and drop off at a local recycle station.  For grease that cannot be poured into a container you should soak it up and wipe with paper towels and put it in the trash.  Food scrapes should also go in the trash. Scrape off excess food from pots, pans and plates and put in the garbage before washing them- avoid using the garbage disposal.  De Hart Plumbing Heating and Cooling, serving Manhattan Kansas, Junction City Kansas, Wamego Kansas and some surrounding areas. De Hart Plumbing and Heating and Cooling - Manhattan, KS 66502
